One-to-One Support & Disability Services

One-to-one support, skill-building, social activities, & training programmes for adults with learning disabilities & mental health needs

Sligo FRC provides one-to-one advice, support, education, and social opportunities for adults with a learning disability living independently in the community. Support covers areas such as:
– Healthy eating and lifestyle choices
– Managing a household
– Budgeting and financial skills
– Mental health and self-care

Countess Café

Work Experience & Learning

Sligo FRC runs the Countess Café at Markievicz House, where two supervisors provide on-the-job training for adults with intellectual disabilities or mental health needs.

Trainees gain valuable work skills, confidence, and self-esteem in a supportive environment.

Each trainee participates for up to two years, culminating in a Graduation Ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

Social Evenings & Activities

We offer social evenings and cultural activities for adults with intellectual disabilities, including:

– Trips to the cinema, theatre, and cultural events
– Visits to coffee shops, the beach, and sporting activitiesReducing social isolation
– Seasonal activities, such as a Christmas dinner and a visit from Santa

The Social Club was established to enable the people we work with to engage in adult-type social activities in the evenings. The social club activities include:
