Parents Plus Programmes

Structured parenting programmes for all stages of childhood

Parents Plus is a charity on a mission to strengthen families and achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and parents.

At Sligo FRC, we offer a range of Parent Plus programmes designed to support parents and families at different stages of family life. Our programmes include:

  • Early Years Programme – Supports parents of children aged approximately 1–6 years, helping to build strong parent–child relationships and encourage positive behaviour.
  • Children’s Early Years Programme – A programme delivered directly with young children to support their social and emotional development, including skills such as sharing, listening, following instructions, and managing feelings. It helps children build positive relationships and develop readiness for learning, and is rolled out in primary schools.
  • Parenting Under Pressure Programme – A programme designed to support parents experiencing high levels of stress, helping them develop practical parenting skills and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Working Things Out Programme – Helps parents support children who may be experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties, with practical tools to improve communication and problem-solving.
  • Parenting When Separated Programme – Supports parents who are separated or divorcing, focusing on helping children adjust and maintaining positive co-parenting relationships.
  • Adolescents Programme – Designed for parents of teenagers, offering strategies to improve communication, manage conflict, and support young people through adolescence.
  • Decider Skills Programme – Teaches practical skills to help children manage emotions, reduce impulsive behaviours, and make positive decisions. This programme is rolled out in primary schools.
